In a recent announcement, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney revealed that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit Canada in December. This visit, which would coincide with the G20 summit in Miami, marks Modi’s first standalone bilateral visit to Canada since 2015. Carney disclosed this development while attending the United Nations General Assembly in New York, emphasizing the importance of the bilateral relationship for trade and security.
As the two nations aim to double their trade to C$70 billion annually by 2030, the fifth round of CEPA negotiations is set to commence on October 5. The discussions follow the completion of the fourth round earlier this month. This progress underscores the commitment of both governments to accelerate negotiations and reach a comprehensive agreement.
