Brad Pitt is set to reprise his role as Cliff Booth in a new spin-off movie directed by David Fincher, following his acclaimed performance in Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Titled The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth, the film will delve into the life of Booth, a Hollywood stuntman with an enigmatic past, as he navigates the evolving landscape of the film industry. The project has secured a two-week global IMAX release beginning on November 25, with a subsequent streaming debut on Netflix slated for December 23.
Although Quentin Tarantino penned the screenplay, he has opted not to direct this installment. He previously expressed a desire for his final directorial venture not to be a sequel, despite his eagerness to further explore Cliff Booth’s narrative. Set in 1977, eight years after the original film, the story will depict Booth’s adaptation to the drastically transformed Hollywood environment of the time.
The film boasts a star-studded ensemble cast, with Brad Pitt being joined by Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, Matt Groove, JB Tadena, Corey Fogelmanis, and Karren Karagulian. In the original Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, Pitt starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Margot Robbie, with the storyline unfolding in the late 1960s Los Angeles.
Taking the helm of the spin-off is director David Fincher, renowned for his work on films such as Fight Club, Zodiac, The Social Network, and Gone Girl. Fincher’s directorial prowess extends to television as well, having worked on popular Netflix series like House of Cards and Mindhunter. In contrast, Tarantino has crafted a legacy with iconic films like Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill, Django Unchained, and The Hateful Eight.
The return of Cliff Booth marks a noteworthy reunion, bringing Brad Pitt back to a character that has already captivated audiences under Tarantino’s vision.
