Chhattisgarh has been grappling with severe weather conditions as heavy rainfall over the past 24 hours has led to flood-like situations across several regions. The incessant downpour has particularly affected Raipur and Durg districts, where the rise of the Kharun River has resulted in significant waterlogging, disrupting daily life.
Numerous roads and villages located near riversides have become submerged, with water entering homes in low-lying areas. The road that connects Raipur, Patan, and Durg via Mahadev Ghat is one of the severely affected routes, causing major traffic disruptions. Similarly, the route from Raipur to Bhilai through Mahadev Ghat is also experiencing heavy waterlogging, complicating transportation for residents and commuters.
In Durg district, the villages of Amleshwar and Khudmuda are among the most impacted areas. The strong water currents and flooded roads have made it increasingly difficult for residents to move around safely.
Weather forecasts indicate the possibility of further rainfall and thunderstorms in the region, intensifying concerns about continued water accumulation in the affected low-lying and riverside areas. Local authorities and residents remain on high alert as they brace for more adverse weather conditions in the coming days.
