At the fourth edition of the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Union Home Minister Amit Shah underscored the significance of Uttar Pradesh’s burgeoning defense manufacturing sector. He highlighted the state’s contribution to national security, specifically pointing to the BrahMos missiles produced in Uttar Pradesh, which he claimed were a cause of concern for neighboring Pakistan.
Shah emphasized the influx of investments into all six nodes of the Uttar Pradesh Defence Industrial Corridor, which includes Jhansi, Chitrakoot, Lucknow, Agra, Aligarh, and Kanpur. The corridor’s development is seen as a catalyst for strengthening indigenous defense production and supporting ancillary industries.
Among the notable facilities, Shah mentioned the BrahMos Integration and Testing Facility in Lucknow. Inaugurated in May 2025, this facility focuses on the assembly, integration, and testing of the supersonic cruise missile. The first batch manufactured at this facility was dispatched in October 2025. The establishment of this facility, which covers nearly 200 acres and involved an investment of approximately ₹300 crore, aims to bolster the state’s defense manufacturing capabilities.
Another key project is the production of AK-203 assault rifles in Amethi, further showcasing Uttar Pradesh’s expanding defense manufacturing footprint. Shah also credited the state’s improving law-and-order situation and its growing industrial base for attracting investment. He mentioned the One District, One Product initiative as a driver of local industry expansion, creating more employment opportunities for the youth.
The UP International Trade Show 2026, running from September 25 to 29, serves as a platform for manufacturers, MSMEs, exporters, artisans, startups, investors, and international buyers to engage and explore business opportunities within Uttar Pradesh’s evolving industrial landscape.
