Amid ongoing global discussions on climate change and environmental responsibility, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized that developing countries are frequently and unfairly blamed for carbon emissions. Speaking at the International Conference on “The Future of Environment and Climate Dynamics” held in New Delhi, Modi highlighted India’s comparatively low per capita emissions, which are less than half the global average.
The conference, organized by the National Green Tribunal on September 19 and 20, gathered judges, government officials, environmental experts, and legal representatives from various countries to address pressing environmental challenges. Modi used this platform to underline India’s commitment to renewable energy, asserting that the country has met its Paris Agreement climate objectives ahead of schedule. He cited India’s significant advancements in solar energy and non-fossil fuel capacity as evidence of its dedication to environmental sustainability.
The two-day event focused on pivotal issues such as policy implementation gaps, environmental justice, and the need for enhanced cooperation among institutions. Participants engaged in four technical sessions aimed at developing strategic approaches to tackle future climate challenges.
