Indian diplomatic missions in the United Arab Emirates have streamlined their consular services by implementing a new online system for passport, visa, and attestation appointments. This initiative allows applicants to schedule appointments directly through an official portal without incurring any booking fees, marking a significant shift in how these services are accessed in the region.
The Embassy of India in Abu Dhabi and the Consulate General of India in Dubai are now managing these services from their offices. This change aims to enhance the efficiency of the application process, reduce complexities for applicants, and eliminate unauthorized service charges that have been a concern in the past.
Authorities have emphasized that the only legitimate way to book appointments for these consular services is through the designated online portal. They have cautioned applicants against paying any third parties, intermediaries, or agencies that claim to offer appointment booking or expedited service on behalf of the Indian missions, as these entities are not authorized to do so.
Furthermore, the missions have issued warnings about organizations or individuals falsely representing themselves as officially sanctioned service providers. They urge individuals who suspect they have been misled or overcharged to report such incidents through the official contact channels of either the Embassy or the Consulate.
For Indian nationals and travelers residing in the UAE, the missions advise relying solely on official communications and verified platforms for information about consular services. This approach is intended to protect them from potential fraud and unnecessary expenses that might arise from unofficial sources.
